Good Things Happen to Good People: FC Barcelona Wins Treble
During the 2008-2009 season, FC Barcelona won a European treble, which refers to a team winning three trophies in a single season: winning the country's top tier league, a major domestic cup, and a continental championship.

PHOTOS: Chicago White Sox Invite UI to Cellular Field
This spring UI participants enjoyed heading to U.S. Cellular Field to cheer on the White Sox. The kids and volunteers had a blast and will never forget their experiences at the ballpark. Thank you to the White Sox for generously donating tickets to four games for participants and their families to enjoy!

Sports Lawyers Honor UI at Annual Luncheon
The Sports Lawyers Association (SLA) generously awarded a grant to fund the UI program at a new school. The SLA invited UI to attend their annual luncheon on May 15 in order to receive the check and give a philanthropic presentation. Hundreds of lawyers from across the country gathered at the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Chicago for the event.

Directors Win "35 Under 35" Leadership Award
UI Executive Directors, Jim and Dan, have been selected by the Community Renewal Society as one of the thirty-five honorees of the 35 Under 35 Leadership Award in the Chicago Metropolitan region. The award is given to leaders from diverse backgrounds that demonstrate a commitment to eliminating race and class barriers. Honorees are selected for their creativity, their ability to build bridges and work across racial, ethnic and economic divides.

PHOTOS: Chicago Fire Works for Kids
Urban Initiatives participants from Goethe, Jenner, Schiller, and Walsh attended the Chicago Fire game versus the Seattle Sounders on May 2 at Toyota Park. The game ended in a tie at 1 to 1 but all the viewers were winners. Thank you to the Fireworks for Kids for donating the tickets!
