During the incredible event the kids were divided into two groups under the leadership of Coach Neil Scott. Coach Deano took the 9 and under group and Coach Kevin took the older youth. The kids completed dribbling, control, and passing exercises
The dribbling games were particularly interesting because the kids had the opportunity to dribble around Manchester United mannequins. Coach Deano asked each kid in his group to name the mannequins after their favorite Manchester United players. As the kids dribbled you could hear Coach Deano shout out, “That’s right, take Rooney on!”
Following the drills, the kids participated in small-sided games that were fun for all. Throughout the morning the kids were kept engaged thanks to Coach Deano and Coach Kevin’s enthusiasm and dynamic ways in which they introduced the games.
The kids loved having the opportunity to play the sport they love and to learn how to play the “United Way!” We are extremely grateful to Manchester United Soccer Schools for taking the time to visit Chicago and for supporting our efforts at Urban Initiatives. And a very special thank you to Nike for making this unforgettable event possible!
