The Jahn Work to Play team had some help kicking off the first week of the winter season! Players and coaches from the Chicago Cubs joined Jahn players for an afternoon of fun games and a discussion on what it takes to be professional athletes.

Jahn players set up some fun games and drill stations in their gym because they wanted Cubs players to get the full Work to Play practice experience. Stations included: Keep the Striker Out, Fox Tails, and the Soccer Skill Challenge. Cubs players and coaches paired up with groups of Jahn players forming four teams that played and learned together.

4th grader Kiara taught Cubs 2nd baseman Darwin Barney how to dance on the ball during the Soccer Skill Challenge while 2nd grader Joshua chased Cubs Manager Dale Sveum around as they played Keep the Striker Out.

Cubs outfielder and the fastest man in baseball, Tony Campana showed his speed during Fox Tails, a new game added to Work to Play practices this winter. 2nd graders Lucia and Leilani both teamed up to corner Campana and retrieve his Fox Tail.

Once every team went through each game station, everyone gathered in the middle of the gym where Coach Tom led a health discussion with Cubs players as everyone drank water and ate a fresh apple. Cubs players and coaches all agreed that healthy eating, exercise and, most importantly, trying your absolute best in school is the only way to become a professional athlete in any sport.

A big THANK YOU goes out to the Chicago Cubs, Cubs Charities and all of the Cubs players and coaches that came out and played with the Jahn team! Go Cubs!
