The Surgeon General of the United States Dr. Regina Benjamin paid a visit to Nathanael Greene Elementary to learn about all the healthy things Principal Heidkamp has going on at his school.

Dr. Benjamin also experienced first hand the impact of Play with Potential at Greene. During her site visit Dr. Benjamin joined Greene students in a game of Four Square. She shared her skills and technique of defending her square with the Greene students and Urban Initiatives Play with Potential staff. Dr. Benjamin then witnessed first hand how Coach Andy transforms a simple hallway space into a fun play area for Greene 2nd graders. Infinity Rope jumping was on full display as the Surgeon General and her staff looked and cheered the Greene students on.

Urban Initiatives is excited to share how the power of play and healthy messaging through Play with Potential can benefit Chicago’s students during the school day with Dr. Benjamin. We thank Dr. Benjamin and the Healthy Schools Campaign for being great partners in our effort to keep Chicago’s children healthy and active.
