It started 10 years ago with 12 boys and girls at Byrd Academy in Cabrini-Green. Fast forward to today where Urban Initiatives now serves over 10,000 boys and girls throughout 21 Chicago communities. Coach D and Coach Ish never thought the Work to Play program would expand to 26 schools and Urban Initiatives would offer other programs like Play with Potential, a structured recess program and Take the Lead our leadership program for graduates of Work to Play.
From entire families changing eating habits to kids from Englewood playing on the same team with kids from Little Village, 10 years with countless stories and amazing memories have passed. The entire Urban Initiatives team would like to thank all of our incredible funders and supporters. These past 10 years could not have happened without all of you. THANK YOU!
