UI’s 1st Ever Take the Lead Education Fair

Last thursday was Urban Initiatives’ 1st ever Take the Lead education fair. UIC hosted the event to highlight opportunities in education (mentoring programs, scholarships, advocacy groups). We couldn’t have asked for a better evening; the weather was so nice that we held the question and answer portion of the event outside. ttl ed @.jpg Five partner organizations made the night special for both kids and parents, informing them of the incredible opportunities that are available. LINK Unlimited, Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund, and Boys Hope Girls Hope all talked about their various scholars’ programs, while Stand for Children talked about ways for parents to be involved in their education, and UIC’s, Sean Phillips, talked about the path to college. It was amazing to see all the parents and kids chatting with all the representatives, exploring the opportunities available to them. A big thank you to UIC and Coach Phillips for their help in organizing the event, and all of the partner organizations: LINK unlimited, Boys Hope Girls Hope, Stand for Children, and the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund! We can’t wait to host another event!
