And the Golden Globe goes to…

Yearly, Urban Initiatives’ partner school Gunsaulus Scholastic Academy hosts a Golden Globe event to show appreciation to their staff and recognize them in creative and meaningful ways. GSA staff vote for each other to receive these special awards, which include recognitions like Most Likely to Win a Rap Battle or Best Healthy School Partner.  It is an evening of fun, celebration and gratefulness to the team that makes up Gunsaulus Scholastic Academy.

At this year’s Gunsaulus Golden Globes, UI’s very own School Based Program Coordinator, Paul Marcinkowski was presented with the Most Inspiring to Students award! Co-Principal Meghan Duffy says Coach Paul is seen as an integral staff member at GSA. “From his leadership of recess and lunch to soccer programming to helping our school run smoothly, Paul goes above and beyond, always putting the students needs first.” says Duffy of how Coach Paul plays such an important role at GSA.

GSA staff says Coach Paul brings passion and energy around physical activity and creating a culture where students thrive not only in the classroom but also on the field.  Co-Principal Duffy adds, “He aligns with our mission, that every student can grow and learn to serve others.”  This year Coach Paul led and participated in lots of areas at GSA. From camping trips to managing our recess team to leading an English Class for parents, his committment is clear and is done on a daily basis.

To end the school year on a high note, Coach Paul planned a stellar field day that included him nominating himself to participate in the Dunk Tank and students enjoyed seeing him go down. But like in typical Coach Paul fashion he did it with a smile.
