United Way of Metropolitan Chicago Commits to UI Kids

Urban Initiatives is incredibly excited to announce our new partnership with the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago. They have generously committed two years of funding—totaling nearly $75,000 in total—to support Work to Play and Play with Potential in the communities of Auburn Gresham, Brighton Park, Chicago Lawn, East Garfield Park, Humboldt Park, New City, and North Lawndale. This grant is specifically designed to help Urban Initiatives sustain and expand our programs in these neighborhoods in order to work toward great health outcomes for the children in these areas.

United Way of Metropolitan Chicago is part of a network of nearly 1,800 community-based United Ways in 45 countries and territories. In Chicago, it has linked together communities to create lasting change for over 80 years. Their goal is to work to advance the common good by focusing on financial stability, access to healthcare and educational assistance. You can find more information about the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago on their website. United Way of Metropolitan Chicago selected Urban Initiatives because of their dedication to empowering students to adopt healthy lifestyles through high-quality program implementation and strong relationships with our school partners.

“We are grateful to United Way of Metropolitan Chicago for supporting us in our joint goal to improve the health and wellness of Chicago’s youth and helping us to continue to provide high quality sports-based youth development to children across the city,” said Jim Dower, Urban Initiatives’ Founder and Executive Director.

The entire Urban Initiatives team thanks United Way of Metropolitan Chicago for their generous support.
