UI’s 13th Annual Halloween Bash

‘Twas the night before Halloween when all through Chop Shop many creatures were stirring, even one wearing a blouse.

This weekend we celebrated the 13th annual Urban Initiatives Halloween party and it was amazing! A rare weather event came through Chicago – a clear weekend in late October. Taking advantage of the rainless evening, our supporters came out in droves. Over 350 tickets were sold in advance of the festivities.

In our second year at Chop Shop, DJ Matt Roan spun some sweet tunes that put the dance moves and incredible costumes on full display. The annual costume contest saw first prize go to Ashley Dobbin’s extremely clever Selfie Stick. Runners-up were Prince, Deflategate, Pee Wee Herman, Lincoln Park Zoo Lights, and a Grandpa and Grandma duo. Raffle winners were Robbie Jensen with a wine package and A.J. Riddell won sick seats to a Bulls game.

The event raised nearly $10,000 for UI’s programming. Thank you so much to everyone who helped plan the party and came out to support UI. This year’s costume’s set a very high bar so you’d better get thinking about what you’ll wear for next year!
