Nixon visits the Chicago Fire

This field trip truly showcased the consistent dedication present amongst players on the Urban Initiatives’ team at Nixon Elementary. This special group of 3rd graders game to the school on a cold and snowy Saturday afternoon to attend the Chicago Fire soccer game at Toyota Park. Despite the uncovered seating, there were no complaints from this team.

The Nixon Knights were all smiles – excited to watch a great game and eat cotton candy. Highlights from this game include sharing blankets, scarves, gloves, and snacks, meeting The Fire mascot, Sparky, winning shirts at halftime, and dancing in attempt to make an appearance on the big screen. By the end of the game we were nearly frozen, but we saw a great 1-0 win by The Fire. As you can see by the pictures, the kids had a blast. Sending a big Urban Initiatives THANK YOU to Kicks for Kids, the Chicago Fire and the Chicago Fire Foundation for donating these amazing tickets to our Nixon team!
