PwC Takes the Field with Beidler

On April 29th, some outstanding PwC employees came out to volunteer with the Beidler Bulls for a special and unique practice where their team had the chance to spend some quality time with some of our students on their home turf during a friday scrimmage.

Each PwC member was connected to a small team of Bulls and acted as their “coach for the afternoon” to get a sense of what a day-in-the-life of a Work to Play participant entails. The Beidler crew wasted no time in getting acquainted with their new coaches and this day was filled with smiles and high spirits. PwC volunteers were eager to get in the game and play, which made the game even more special for the team. PwC team member, Connor Lynch shared that he had a blast with Urban Initiatives, participating in the soccer games as both a player and a coach. He felt that, “It was a great chance to connect with the students on a personal level and encourage the development of their teamwork and communication skills.”

After two games, the group got together for the discussion of the week: teamwork. The players and volunteers both highlighted several moments where they saw players display great teamwork and sportsmanship on the field. Cale Mannesto, committed volunteer, Junior Board member, and PwC employee enjoyed the unique nature of this game day saying that he “looks forward to volunteering at another Urban Initiatives Work to Play event in the future.”
