Nike Helps UI Make an Impact

Urban Initiatives is pleased to announce that we have been selected as a 2016 recipient of the Nike Community Impact Fund, a $5,000 grant that will help thousands of students across Chicago.

The Nike Community Impact Fund (NCIF), in partnership with Charities Aid Foundation of America and the Oregon Community Foundation, is a collaborative approach to grant making that directly impacts local communities. They are committed to making a difference through support to non-profit groups that make physical activity, play and sport a highly valued part of everyday life. From Urban Initiatives’ Program Director Brendan McAlpine, “Nike’s tradition of building equipment that is engineered to the exact specifications of championship athletes will help Urban Initiatives students grow their commitment to being the best student athletes in Chicago.”

This year, Nike employees will help award nearly $800,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations and schools across communities in the U.S. and Urban Initiatives is thrilled to have been selected!

Thank you to the Nike Community Impact Fund and to the South Chicago Nike Community Store for the nomination!
