The violent killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade and countless other Black people are mourned deeply by our youth, staff, and stakeholders. Institutional racism continues to plague our world and it deeply impacts the communities we serve. As an organization we continue to commit ourselves to equity and anti-racist efforts through not just statements like this one but also by daily action, continuous learning and listening. We welcome conversation, questions, and feedback about these efforts. We implore all those who engage in our work to support the Black community through individual action against racism in their own lives and communities.
The events of the past week weigh heavily on our community, city and country and they demonstrate how important it is to serve and support our youth. It is so vital that while our youth face oppression, violence and inequality, we remain steadfast in our commitment to empower young people, stand with them as allies, and provide equitable opportunities and resources.
